Not on the CD: Wishes Fulfilled

Okay, so it's been pointed out to me that it's been a while since I posted anything.  You might be thinking, what kind of 'obsessive' musician goes a month without producing anything new?  Well, that fact is that I've been doing a lot of music, but I haven't completed any new recordings.  I have actually been practicing quite a lot with the looping technique that I referred to when I first started this blog.  It gives my guitar playing a workout, and I think it lowers my blood pressure at the same time!   I have a bunch of new ideas from that process, that I may or may not incorporate into some new recordings here.

Anyway, I did create a new composition over the weekend, but it is very, very short!  This was a response to a request from an interested party that I submit a sample of my work that was one minute or less.  I took this as a challenge to actually write something under one minute, rather than to just edit down something longer.  It's actually quite difficult for me to be so brief.   I'm going to keep it a secret who the interested party is.  I will let you know right away if it works out!

The finished product is called Wishes Fulfilled and clocks in at a whopping 54 seconds.  It's a string quartet (minus one violin, plus bass, as I tend to enjoy) plus a little extra percussion.  As you might guess from the title, it's a lot less ominous and oppressive than usual...

I may or may not want to expand this into something longer.  For the moment, I don't think it warrants inclusion on the Virtual CD.  What do you think?  Is this worth extending?

This is great, and I couldn't disagree with you more about including it in the collection. In fact, if I were brought in as your high priced record producer I would probably recommend opening the CD with this, to be immediately follwed by something nothing at all like it (maybe "Just Stop Talking"). I think that would be really cool.

Which is probably why I've never been hired to be anybody's high priced producer - I'd just make the record I wanted to hear no matter what anybody else (including the artist) thought.

Well, there you go!  Thanks for the comments.  I'm glad that this worked, I couldn't really tell anymore.  That gives me some validation about sending it to represent myself (as I already did).  I definitely like the contrast/intro idea.  I will consider leaving it as is, but I can't promise not to extend it...

Oh, and I forgot to say I meant that I would include the track exactly as it is, without extending it.

    Because I'm a freak.
